Murals Around the World

Featured Mural from Philadelphia, PA
- This
project is a worldwide collaborative effort that began in 2003. It is produced through
submission of
mural photographs to us, by supporters of the decorative
arts worldwide.
Murals Around the Worlds'
project goal is to document all murals from around the world. Only
commissioned, private or community murals; produced with permission from the
property owner, will be accepted. We are also looking for documentation
regarding the mural artist or artistic group, and any facts related to any murals on this site. Art
is often temporary and as such, our goal is to document as many as we can from
both the past and present. Some of the murals have already disappeared, since we began
our project.
This
project is in progress. On March 10, 2009 we released our first Windows Media
Player version. It's our first video tour of murals from around the world. We will have more available
in the near future!

The Whaling Wall is now gone from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
- This mural only exists in photos and memories. It was
torn down due to freeway reconstruction. The artist, Wyland, offered to
repaint the whale mural somewhere else in Milwaukee, but the local officials declined his generous
offer.
-
- Wyland has been recognized by the United Nations for his
conservation efforts, and recently finished the third year of a five-year
campaign promoting clean water issues throughout the United States. Lovers
of art and the ocean environment watched Wyland paint his final U.S.
''Whaling Wall'' in February 2007. Wyland finished
painting number 95 in his
planned series of 100 massive marine life murals. Click
