DESIGNING
MURALS
Before we begin a mural, it's important to establish a clear idea of the elements that
you want to incorporate. You may want to consider the function of the room as you begin developing your ideas and themes.
Is it a place where the family gathers, is it primarily for entertaining or is
it a private place?
Do you want to create a
more open feel or greater feeling of space? Would you like to add illusions
or period architectural elements to an ordinary room? Will the mural cover one
wall or will it envelop the entire room? The
possibilities are as endless as your imagination.
- Your inspiration can come
from an infinite supply of resources, such as nature, cityscapes, books, art
museum's and galleries, the internet , try our [decorating
resources] photos, magazines, etc. The best resource is YOU. Look around
your home. Think about your interests, hobbies, favorite colors, styles, area's of expertise.
It's fun to incorporate elements that directly link you to your mural.
Gather your photos and
ideas together into a folder or copy and save images onto a disk. This
will help Dan to "see" your vision. He can then produce it as a
rough sketch. This is an extremely important phase in producing a mural. It
takes your ideas from your inspirations and forms them into a unique creation
of your own. From there, your vision can become a reality.
